[Tampa] Too long openning google crome browser

Iam not sure if this is the right place to set up my complaint but here it is' I have BH lighting install in my house and after the changes of the big black box that has it all the only problem I had was the telephone side gave me lots of trouble, ecos in the line drop calls people calling and I could't heard them and many others. on the internet side all of a sudden while watching movies on netflix its started to loose connection and slows down the stream but no problem opening the browser fast. After they replace it with a modem router and a separate modem for the phone it fixed the most problems but while trying to open the browser with Google Crome it takes too long to open it. 6 secs or more. Before only 2 secs, I have Avast antivirus (free edition) and no other antispyware products. The computer is a Dell pentium 4 with 2 gigs of ram and a 10/100/1000 nick pci card. Can you please help me out.

What OS are you running? If its vista or windows 7 you may want to add more ram, that will help speed up everything. Vista and windows 7 are RAM hogs. Also it may help to have IP flood detection and fragmented packets disabled in the modem/router combo firewall settings. Those two settings are known to cause problems, mostly with online gaming and perhaps streaming video too but that I can't verify.

Depending on the brand of combo modem you have there is a couple of firewall features builtin to it that should be turned off that are known to cause some connection issues. More than likely you are locked out from being able to login and disable them yourself since thats how »Bright House Networks is setup so you may have to call in and have them disabled or register and create a thread in the »Bright House Networks Direct forum with your modem mac or your IP address and BHNtechXpert See Profile will take care of it for you.

Opening the browser has nothing to do with your internet connection...if the browser is taking that long to display there is something else going on. You were asked to open a direct forums thread so we can take a look at your equipment as well...as of now this has not happened yet.

As the others suggest this is likely not a problem with the Bright House connection itself. This is because typically the speed at which an application on your computer opens is usually more a function of your hardware and software.

Check for malware. Microsoft Security Essentials is a decent malware scanner. Update it and do a full scan in safe mode.

Also An old P4 with only 2 GB RAM is a little on the slow side for modern Microsoft operating systems. Especially when Flash is thrown in the mix. Flash can make that configuration max out the CPU easily making the computer very slow. This is probably not the issue from your problems loading Chrome, however. Just something to keep in mind - start saving for a new system if you can.

2gb of ram is kinda low depending on what you do with your computer. if you can you should try to upgrade it to at least 4GB but that won't do much good if your cpu isn't all that fast. we have an old dell here with xp pro, 2gb of ram and a Intel P4 with Hyperthreading and things are all around slow at loading even when starting with about 1600mb of free ram. now that ive really thought about it it could be a limiation of your cpu but idk since i dont know what it is
