Re: Potentially unsafe grill

Is the black charring from getting too hot? Or soot just from the grill and grease burning off? Obviously it's too close either way, but one is worse then the other.

It appears to be soot from the grilling. I have my grill on my screened porch and the vinyl ceiling gets black like that. It washes right off when I power wash the house. The grill in the picture is definitely too close though unless the siding is hardi-board.

It's cheap fiberboard siding but IMO the real danger would be a grease fire. The owner husband just passed away and I informed his wife and the fire marshall. The only pertinent NV law the fire marshall has to back him up would be endangerment of people/children. The prison guard doesn't like anybody telling him what to do so he is making a point of leaving it there along with trash in the street. The guy is gleaming example for his children to look up to..

Hey There, Voter! Do you remember that on Inauguration Day (Jan 20th) 2009, the national average for a gallon of gasoline was about $1.78? How's that "Hope & Change" working out for you? Anyone But Obama Nov. 2012.

I have a Q110. Absolutely the best grill I have ever had. I would buy the Q120 today and get the thermometer.

No stand, no cover, bring it in the house/garage, the grill surface fits the sink - don't get me started.

Really? How many people do you know that carry? Oh, and do prison guards carry guns? On the job, in the prison?

Prison Guard or anyone else he's playing with disaster. I hope he evacuates his family when he's grilling.

To clear this up.. I've had family in jail here and I knew many of the prison higher ups. There's good and bad guards and loose cannon guards. This guy falls into the last category and loves to indicate that he has a weapon when off duty.. I also have a CCW myself..

Re: Potentially unsafe grill

Are you pressing the burgers while they're on the grill?

Ugh, rookie mistake eh? (Yes I was a rookie back in April and I did that for the first couple of burgers).

Yep, no need to press the burgers! All it does is dry them out and cause flareups!

Highly recommended cookbook - »www.weber.com/weber/grilling-boo···to-grill

Sweet link.
I hate browsing recipes websites online as they show 50 million ways to do one dish.

This one recommends what they feel is the best (And possibly not too complicated).

I will definitively try some stuff in there this weekend.

I agree with you -- most of those recipe websites stink; you can't find anything useful!

I highly recommend this book in the actual dead-tree (a/k/a paper) format. It's my go-to bible for some kick-ass recipes

You just gave me a father's day gift idea to request to my wife.

And damn grilling!

I'm thinking I'll need to hire a licensed contractor to install an outside valve for my natural gaz so I can BBQ in the winter instead of relying on propane.

I cook almost every day on it since I got on in April.

Grilling on NG is almost free compared to the cost of propane.

that's very odd, as they are not allowed to have guns in the prison, they don't want the prisoners grabbing it from them!!. so what's the point of having them carry?

Guards don't use pseudonyms or wear skimasks while on the job, atleast in the USA (in other countries thats standard procedure). Supposedly the inmate will call his freeman brother to arrange a hit on the guard after the guard sends the inmate to solitary for a violation.
