One difference here was no update for MS Office 2010 because no MS Office installed. Using Apache OpenOffice 3.4. Got 13 on Win 7 Pro x64 on one system. Not sure what else is different in the list. Not using that system right now and others will have to wait for overnight. Restart was required.

Some people complain that .net Optimization service runs and hogs the cpu.
If you open command prompt as admin and run this:
c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\ngen executeQueuedItemsat

The .net Optimization service will get its ass in gear and finish doing its job.

That way it's not running in the background.

quote:
With the service running, you can use "c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\ngen queue status" to check on this. (If .NET 4.0 is installed, also try with substitution v4.0.30319.)

You can also use "c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\ngen executeQueuedItems" to force the pending assemblies to be processed.

I didn't because I'll never put a retail entertainment disk in my computer in fear of something getting installed like securom or the likes.
I have a DVD player and a TV for that.

It's self-evident, MarkAW See Profile, optional.
Why should I apply an update that I don't need ?

Re: »support.microsoft.com/kb/2709981
I suppose that if you play certain DVDs in Windows Media Player 12 on a computer running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 and your Windows Media Player displays scrambled content instead of the expected video content you would want to install this update otherwise it wouldn't appear to be necessary,
thus it's an optional update.
