 | reply to Pentangle I've updated mine and in the about box it still shows the old version:
build 1.7.0_05-b05
Uninstalled and reinstalled three times and the about box still shows incorrect. It should be showing a build version of "u5"
Anyone else seeing this? -- GuruGuy |

build 1.7.0_05-b05 ... That sure looks like the correct version you have there to me, GuruGuy. I have the same thing. If you look to the left of that, it also says: "Version 7 Update 5"

And of course, you could always go to a test page such as this one to verify: »www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp |

said by GuruGuy:I've updated mine and in the about box it still shows the old version:
build 1.7.0_05-b05 From the other thread where you also posted the same thing:
The build version has nothing to do with the "update" version. 1.7.0_05-b05 absolutely IS the latest update. "1.7.0" is Java SE 7, "_05" is u5.
Straight from the authoritative site ( »www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/···274.html ):
The full version string for this update release is 1.7.0_05-b05 (where "b" means "build") and the version number is 7u5. |

2 edits | Also noted in the other thread, this has been fixed here too.
For some reason the forum editor attached the closing parenthesis and colon to the url - simply take these off the end of the url after you get the '404' and refresh, or click on the link in the updated post above. |

PentangleWith our thoughts we make the world.Premium join:2006-06-01 Vancouver BC kudos:2 | I stayed with JRE v6 for quite a while and am now using JRE 7 Update 5. LibreOffice now recognizes JRE v7. As v6 is only going to be supported for a few more months it's probably a good idea to upgrade to the newest version. |

jabarnutLight Years AwayPremium,MVM join:2005-01-22 Galaxy M31 kudos:2 | I've been using JRE 7 for quite a while. (And Update 5 now, as noted). No problems at all. Then again, I don't generally have a need for java too often. But when I do , I'll go with the very latest version, unless I have a reason to do otherwise. Can't help it. I always need the latest and newest version. Heck, even if it doesn't work sometimes, I still need it. Man, sometimes it sucks being me. -- I had a life once.....now I have a Computer and a Modem. |
