New to ssd please helpThis weekend im buying a ssd and was wondering how i go about putting world of warcraft on it? That game is the only thing I need on it. What size do i need to buy any type or specs do i need? Any help and recos would be appreciated. |

are you putting your OS on it too? If not then 40-60 GB is fine for just WoW, but I'd shoot for 120 GB for OS + WoW. |

If you are looking at just putting WoW on it, a 60gb would be just fine. I used for a few years when I played for that reason. The game does not do any type of install other than that. If you use Curse or something like that, you will have to change the folders that point to the game. IMHO - there was not a huge upgrade when playing the game. You will find that a few things load faster, but overall it was not a huge change. I just happen to get one really cheap from a friend who was going to put his OS on it, but it was too small. |

Putting the OS makes everything quicker, but most noticeably boot ups. If you're going to spring for an SSD, I'd recommend going ahead and getting one that can hold your OS.
My 120GB SSD has Win7, WoW, and Diablo 3 on it + all my non-game applications and I still have 40 GB free.
With MIRs, you should be able to get a 120 GB drive for $90-120. |

If you are really short on cash, you can use your ssd drive to work with you hdd on a smart response system. Not as fast as the os on a SSD, but not as slow as a HDD.
You can run windows 7 ult. on a 60gb SSD drive. But its all you can run for the most part on the drive. Rest will be on the HDD you will need to have.
I know that WoW response well to a fair amount of system ram.

Just checked neweggs some more, and the price of a SSD drive has fell off the earth. If you are going to buy, just get a big one!
$100 or less for the 120GB???
I might pick up 2 and do a raid with them just because, lol |

16 gig of ram. core i7 940 proc. win xp. 2 gtx i think 560 video cards 1 tb hard drive. 900 watt power supply. its a build i did last year. |

That is a nice setup. I don't see a big increase for just putting wow on a ssd. I would move the OS over to a ssd and profit!
Now would be a nice time then to pick up windows 7. |

My x58/i7-920 has 24 GB installed but only 16GB is usable as system ram, so I use the extra 8 GB as a ram disk (using Win7 Pro). |

Also, Windows 7 has better SSD handling than WinXP. You will see significant performance increases if you use a SSD on Win7. Time to switch. |

You only need Pro if you are going to be more than 16GB of ram. Home Premium should be more than enough. |

Switch your SATA adapter mode to AHCI before installing the OS on the SSD. Then boot up from your OS install disc and install Windows. Then boot from the SSD and install WoW on the SSD. Then do whatever you want with the data left on the HDD. |

I'd say get 64bit
its been quite awhile since I've seen a program have issue with it and 32bit is limited to 4gb |

That is the system builder version. It’s meant to be installed over many machines when building new ones.
Will it work for what you are using, yes.
But - be warned. This version is good for your system once. So if something happens and you need to reinstall your OS - you will not be able to activate it. One and done deal with this version. |
