| Fax with MagicJack using Brother MFC-7460DN Just FYI:
When I purchased MagicJack a couple of years ago, I had a Panasonic fax machine that would not receive with my MagicJack, which is expected. I know faxing with VOIP is hit or miss (mostly miss, I think).
Recently I purchased a Brother MFC-7460DN printer/copier/fax machine. At first the fax still did not work, as usual, but then I discovered a Compatibility setting in the Brother setup under Fax | Miscellaneous. There is a choice called "Basic (for VOIP)". After selecting that, so far I can send and receive faxes with no problem using the MagicJack. Another nice feature in this Brother is that it can be configured to send the faxes directly to my PC, and if the PC is off, it sends them after I boot up.

I have an Epson Workforce I could not send fax's with. I had to disable v.34 in the modem settings in order to be able to complete fax's. |

I had been experimenting with this and dial up modems. I was testing it with the lenovo/thinkpad r61.
I could get it to dial out, and I could get it to connect (was using as gvjack). It would transmit the fax to my test fax (efax) number but efax would report it as unreadable.
Still am kind of playing with it, as for $20 (and I have 2 spare magicjacks-mom's and mine) I am trying to make this one work.
any tips please reply.

Nepean, ON | I use MJ+ and a Brother Fax ... No problems sending and receiving faxes ... And I did nothing special .... It just works. People I send faxes to have not indicated any issues with my faxes and I receive faxes just fine.
I do not know the efax service so I cannot comment about that. |
