[DVR] HD DVR - how much does it cost per DVR per month?

I don't know why this seems to be a secret on the COMCAST site, but just how much do they charge (extort) you for each HD DVR ? We're HAVING to switch from DTV to COMCAST at a new house and really turned off by the pricing strategy. Is each DVR a LEASE and if so, how much per?

In many markets depending on the level of service and any bundle you might have, one outlet with video DVR equipment could be included. ( after paying a whole-house HD "technology" fee)
Otherwise expect to pay $15 a month per HD DVR or $8/mo for just a HD decoder box. So each DVR costs around 50 cents a day extra over just getting HD channels, per outlet.

It also depends on the area. In Houston, additional HD/DVRs are 16.95 each.

But by the same token, most triple-play bundles ALSO include the HD tech (fee) as part of that same bundle. Only higher-end bundles ALSO include 1 (HD) DVR as part of the bundles, while lower level ones only include a non-DVR HD box.

It usually costs $8 to upgrade the 1st (primary) box to a DVR one, while additional HD DVR's usually cost around $17. ($9 f/the additional HD outlet (box) + $8 to make it an HD DVR)

In Reston, VA the dvr charge is $16.95/month.

For many, many years (8-10), I have used a Comcast provided Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD stb--it was provided initially in an attempt to fix a closed captioning issue (I have a hearing loss and need closed captions to make programming accessible). A number of months ago, Comcast turned on the dvr function on the 8300HD--I had not requested it and had no desire for the service.

Last week I received a letter telling me that I would now be charged for the dvr service. Since I had not requested it and didn't want it, I certainly wasn't going to pay for it--and certainly not $16.95/month! I figured it would be no problem to have the service turned off on the box but OH NO!!! even though Comcast turned it on (after years and years with it off), I was informed that it's impossible to turn it off. I was told that I had to get a new non-dvr stb and...oh, as an example of Comcast's vaunted "customer service" you'll be charged for the service call so you'd better install it yourself and who cares how many times you have to go to the local Comcast office to get a box that works?

After 3 trips to the local office, and an *entire* day spent trying to get the closed captions to display a readable font because Comcast can't be bothered to document anything other than how to turn closed captions on/off, I now have a Cisco RNG200N stb which died with an error message of "stb not authorized" at 9:20pm last night and for which I spent 2.5HOURS!!! (until midnight!) on the phone (very! difficult given my hearing loss) trying to get it working again to no avail.

It was finally fixed in less than 3 minutes when I contacted Comcast chat this afternoon. Why no one in the 2.5 hours I spent on the phone could do what the live chat rep did in less than 3 minutes is a mystery to me...

You say "each."
Your first outlet is part of the package, so the first outlet would be just a $7 upcharge.

Additional outlets are $9.95 outlet fee plus $7 for DVR or $16.95.

This is how I understand the bill for my area. Each town has its own fees. When I go to my local Comcast office, there are fee schedules for a dozen towns in my area. Every one has different prices.

yep $17 per month per dvr if not on the $159 or $199 package. So 2 dvrs would be $34 a month.
