was the first to offer 1Gig to the home. Karl fails to even mention that. oh wait its because its not a Muni build. It's a CWRU / One Community build- that is expanding.

According to the above article from last month, Case Western Reserve Cleveland 1Gbps is only built out on campus at this point so I guess this could count as first?

One of the first targets of the 1G network will be Judson at University Circle retirement community. While the university will test a number of broadband applications, they believe that telemedicine, medication monitoring, and virtual medical care and nursing services will be a key focus of the trial given that it's located near the Bruening Health Center.

Actually not true. This network was NOT built on Campus but off campus in University Circle.

Also I don't need to learn more from those sites. Already know more about the project than what they post/"report" on.

I hope this Fiber experiment project was a success and they are expanding as the website you linked to really hasn't posted any info about expanding away from next to the University in like a year!? Looks like socialism is alive and well in Ohio as well! Cheers!:p

A private university offering a token expansion of its own network into an adjoining neighborhood is an act of charity, not socialism.

Actually its not. CWRU is doing it as a research project. Case Connection Zone is also the ISP of the GigU project. Where do you think GigU was created? Surely not by ATT or TWC. It was created by CWRU.

Case Connection Zone is now basically GigU which was created by CWRU and One Community (www.onecommunity.org)
