Re: Need a GPS with these features
Garmin 1490LMT -
I like the Garmin interface, and they have been updating the maps 2-3 times a year.
I've had three units with spontaneous reboot problem. Seems there is no fix. Garmin keeps sending me new ones but to no avail.
My experience with Bluetooth speaker phone is that it sucks. I have to reach for the screen to touch a relatively small button to answer. When I do, either I can't hear the person on the other end or they can't hear me. Navigating through screens to transfer the call back to my phone is an invitation to an accident. I wouldn't even consider using it while driving.
EcoRoute HD device is nice, displays instantaneous and cumulative trip mileage, a few engine conditions, captures the generic ECM codes and can reset the CEL. Downside is that when the unit spontaneously reboots, you lose the cumulative trip mileage and it often won't reconnect to the GPS unit until you stop, shut off the engine and restart. Not good when you lose data on a long trip.
My first Garnmin was a 12XL :P but yeah back when i first looked a few years ago they had they reboot problem which turned me off.. It's crazy it's still going on because I like the garmin interface better.
and I share the same feelings with you regarding bluetooth I wish we could have a true custom model where we could get the high end without bluetooth.
