add 'em to the DOJ list for the rectal microscope
Incase you've been under a rock for the last 9 years... the cable industry has been pushing for caps & overages for quite some time.. it was not AT&T which first floated this idea.. it was the cable companies.. Comcast being the first. There is absolutely ZERO justifiable reason for cable companies to charge for WIRED internet bandwidth on a usage based (by the byte) system. These actions by cable companies will lead the DOJ to conclude that the competition they THOUGH they were encouraging by allowing cable companies to offer VOIP service and Telcos VIDEO service has all but failed in the case of AT&T and Comcast and very dysfunctional elsewhere. A number of state-level laws have blocked 3rd party carriers from deploying networks to compete and it's actions such as this which will result in new regulation sooner rather than later (as a utility).
