Yeah I can see canceling Ultra and the new Blast speed doesn't show up for another year. Blast experience was horrible which is why I had to pay for Ultra.
I work from home some days, so I'd rather find out first. There is a new thread where people are getting Emails from Comcast. I'll see if I get an Email about the speed increase.
Unless you work for Comcast and know?? Yeah, you have a point there. Until you've confirmed Blast is 50 or better in your area, you might wanna stick with Ultra. It's definitely worth switching when you find out, though. And I know exactly how you feel. Blast is only 16/2 in my area with no D3 upgrades yet. And it took them 5 years to get that to me. For all I know, any new speeds might not show up until next year, which leaves 16/2 as the fastest speed. I was quite disappointed when I got the upgrade, having been expecting 20/4 or better. And no, I don't work for Comcast or know. Wish I did, cause I'd be drooling over news for my own area. You might try asking Comcast Steve in the Direct forum: » Comcast Direct |

Ok, DC, Reston confirmed... hopefully making it's way to the bottom of the beltway!
I suspect according to the few things I read that they want to have everything in place for the opening of the Olympics. |

I'm in the Boston area, have Blast! and have a leased Arris WBM760A.
Is there anything can I look at on the modem status page via 192.168.100.1 to tell definitively if I've gotten (or not) the upgrade?
For example, if I'm still seeing only 4-channel downstream bonding does that mean I haven't gotten the speed upgrade to 50Mbps or is that inconclusive and I need to determine it from speedchecks? |

Re: [Speed] Northeast speed changes coming.Go to speedtest.net or speedtest.comcast.net and choose a city closest to you. The modem page I don't think will help you. Very view modems show the provision information. |

Bing ShaperProbe and run it it will show actual speed.
If you have Ultra, It is not upgraded and you keep paying for it.

Says who? A few people have said this without knowing. I'm going to ask the direct forum. If folks on 50Meg are being bumped up to 105Mb service and only pay for 50mb service, why would they let Blast surpass Ultra speed and continue to make me pay more for it?? I'm not buying it. I'll re-post if I find out. said by [user= :] If you have Ultra, It is not upgraded and you keep paying for it.

Williamsport, PAWilliamsport, PA Got the upgrade after a reboot today. Was on blast 25/4, now getting 50/4. I had lost powerboost on upload on July 2nd and upload has stayed at 4 since then. Any reason my upload has not changed yet, could there be an upload issue in my area for the past month? Also I'm wondering about powerboost with the upgraded speeds. Some are reporting powerboost of 120+ when on the new 50/10, old blast, speeds. I had thought powerboost was disabled for 50+. Shaperprobe Estimating capacity: Upstream: 3845 Kbps. Downstream: 115871 Kbps. Upstream: No shaper detected. Median received rate: 3770 Kbps. Downstream: No shaper detected. Median received rate: 51632 Kbps. |

I find it funny that they roll out the speed increases at the end of the month when people are already near their caps. I think they wanted to get the speed increases out so that everyone can stream the Olympic videos faster and be impressed which will make good publicity maybe? Anyway I was already at my 250GB cap before the increase and now I'm already in the red. I know that they suspended the cap thingy but I'm just worried that we're all going to get red flagged when they start enforcing it again. |

I don't think the number of bonded channels are going to be an indication of the speed increase. Usually it's going to be just checking with a speedtest site. |

correct, most modems aren't going to give you much of an indication unless it shows the new config file in the logs, but even that can be misleading due to the wide variances of naming conventions from town to town. |

Little while ago I had been dabbling in QoS settings, then disabled it. Apparently after disabling QoS it kept the upload limit in effect. All fixed now. |
