vue666I'm in the prime of my senilityPremium join:2007-12-07 Halifax, NS 1 edit | I used to journey to the old Misty Moon (Halifax) 30 years ago in to see Long John Baldry & Kathi MacDonald....
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it from Long John Baldry one of the artists that influenced Elton John from whom he derived his last name "John"... |

vue666I'm in the prime of my senilityPremium join:2007-12-07 Halifax, NS | reply to vue666 Long John Baldry
quote: John William "Long John" Baldry (12 January 1941 21 July 2005) was an English and Canadian blues singer and a voice actor. He sang with many British musicians, with Rod Stewart and Elton John appearing in bands led by Baldry in the 1960s. He enjoyed pop success in the UK where Let the Heartaches Begin reached No. 1 in 1967 and in Australia where his duet with Kathi McDonald You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' reached number two in 1980. Baldry lived in Canada from the late 1970s until his death. There he continued to make records and do voiceover work. He was well known for the voice of Dr Robotnik in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.

(youtube clip) it a try Classic Baldry tune... Who? (I read the wiki bit - never heard of him). -- The irony of common sense, it is not that common. I cannot deny anything I did not say. A kitten dies every time someone uses "then" and "than" incorrectly. I mock people who give their children odd spelling of names. |

LazManPremium join:2003-03-26 canada | reply to vue666 Probably his best known tune; at least in North America... |

LazManPremium join:2003-03-26 canada | reply to donoreo said by donoreo:Who? (I read the wiki bit - never heard of him). He never really made it big... He was around artists that broke (he was basically repsonible for Rod Stewart and Elton John...).
Did a TON of voiceover work once he moved to Canada, lots of commericals and cartoons - you've heard his voice, no doubt!
"Don't Lay no Boogie Woogie" is probably his best known song in North America - get's moderate rotation on "Classic Rock" radio stations. |

| reply to donoreo said by donoreo:Who? (I read the wiki bit - never heard of him). You have been deprived of some most excellent music. Long John Baldry is a staple, he for all intents and purposes "discovered" Rod Stewart. -- No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake....... |
