Re: What 'r' ya' listening to...

Experiment.

I took a live version of The Last Resort by The Eagles, located here, and queued it up:

I then took the album version of the song and queued that up in exactly the same place in the song.

Play them, side by side.

Perfection. It's uncanny. Note for note, in time, virtually perfectly for the entire duration.

When I saw the tour live I couldn't believe my ears. Note for note faithful reproduction of their material. In that respect, best band ever.

The wonders of lip syncing.

I prefer bands who mix it up a little when they replay an old song. I hate the thought of paying $100 a ticket to listen to the studio version being lip synced on the stage.

And now for some fun, some Jethro Tull. Old and new.

Indeed, note for note cut for cut that's the sign of a tight band, But I also like to see a little jam or some different extended runs in a live show, if the vibe in the hall is right it can be magic.

Yes for sure. Genesis was excellent for that. I'd call it playful reproduction instead of faithful. Gabriel of course takes that to the extreme, playing with frequencies, timings, everything is open to reinterpretation for that dude.

I saw Henley on his own twice. Also very good reproducing certain songs, but taking liberties with others.

Antoher band I aw recently that was superbly tight was Loverboy. A wicked 7 song set at the Journey concert at Copps recently. Best act of the night IMHO.

Mechanoid MP3
Picked up a new Alesis SR18 Drum Machine this week and added it to my MIDI rack. Was playing around and noodled out this little tune.

So fire up those computer speakers and enjoy "Mechanoid" (c)2013 by Lugnut

Mechanoid MP3 Remix
Remixed my tune tonight, replacing the choral voices with strings. I think it's an improvement.

Also listening to some Pat Metheny...

I heard a really good new band on Conan the other night. Interesting all female group with no drummer. They're called "Von Grey."

This song gives me comfort. It helps me remember a time of innocence in my life.
A time when we knew our neghbours, when community was home and not a stop over, a time when in need you could count on a friend...

The world now is evolving too fast for me and spiraling out of a structured order into
dismal chaos...

No, I do not speak or read Japanese but I suppose this song is proof one does not have to
hear or know the words to enjoy a good song...To find solace in the tune...

Listening to a nice prog rock album by a couple of indie artists.

»soundcloud.com/chadt/sets/garden-fortress

It's also available for purchase at »www.cdbaby.com/cd/tregomcmenamy

I may actually eat their extortionate shipping charges to Canada and buy a copy. Gotta love the grassroots, cottage music industry. We gotta support the arts.
