Bath tub is pink can it be painted? How much is hardwood flo

Hello,

So my friend is a bathroom and his bathtub is pink, can he paint it? If yes, what needs to be done and what kind of paint?

Also How much would it be for hardwood flooring installed for a 15X16 room?

Call a tub refinishing service. They apply an epoxy coating in whatever color you want.

Not something you'd want to do yourself...

No way to tell you how much the flooring would be. Too many variables in labor and price of the flooring itself.

I had a contractor install, sand and finish 2-1/4" Red Oak last summer. I paid about $8.50 per square foot for about 600 square feet.

On top of that I paid extra for diagonal installation, Arboritec Finish, transitions, and nosing. The net price including the stairs was about $10 per sq. ft.

Color changing of a ceramic tub can be done. I recommend you let professionals do it as I did. It requires etching and spraying. I posted pics in someone's old thread of my tub when I had it refinished from barf green to a color matching the new tile. (scroll down after clicking) »Re: Washroom ceiling replacement/patchup?

Cool tub reglazing. Any particular reason you did the tile first and then the tub? Looks like tub first would have been easier.

They sell epoxy bathtub paint at Home Depot or other similar places. I used it on the 1950's cast iron tub in my house when I bought it 15 years ago, because the old finish was so bad and nasty looking, I hated even standing in it to take a shower. It worked ok but eventually started to yellow and peel after several years, and I eventually replaced it with a 5' shower enclosure.

I second the tub refinisher. They will etch it and spray it with a better epoxy paint than you can do yourself. It only takes them a couple hours. There's also a company that will build a fiberglass shell over your old tub.

You do the tile first for a few reasons.
1) Butter fingers. I dropped tools and tiles while tiling. It is inevitable. Could have easily damaged the glazing if done first.
2) Custom color matching. They mix at your house and try their best, but it is still an art. They got real close but there is a slight difference as you can see. If using all white color for both tub and tile, then I suppose it would be perfect.

They will also reglaze tile if you want. The guy said he has done a lot of that. But I can't imagine how the ceramic glazing over existing grout would work.

I agree.
I've done this before »My try at a 40 year old bathroom
If I were to change anything, I would omit the strip around the tub.

Definitely get a pro to do it. My parents attempted to DIY this a few years ago. It came out awful and didn't last.

Why don't you investigate getting an insert that fits right over the entire tub?

Use Porcelain Paint for now and save money to replace the tub in a few years!
Everyone thinks everyone else is loaded with cash!

Out here they charge about $8 a square to lay down flooring, not counting the cost of the flooring!

Just to clarify natedj See Profile, are you agreeing that you would use a pro instead of the DIY job you did on your tub in your project you posted if you had the option again?

Sorry for the confusion ...
As for me, I would not use a Pro, my tub came out great. Just make sure and prep the surface as required and give it 3 coats. I gave mine three coats 24 hours apart and stored the mixture in the refrigerator between coats. If you can pull the tub away from the walls about an inch or so, that will be great so you can get better coverage at the edges and corners.

Great. Glad I asked for the clarification.
