Thank you for that. Downgraded TV from Ultimate to Extreme and bumped Internet from 35/35 to 75/35. Cost $5 more pm. |

the 150/35 was fluffed to 154/72 before so basically it shows as advertised as opposed to the 40 mbits that was fluffed before |

I opted to go to 75/35 and drop tv from Ultimate to Extreme. Bill should remain the same.
And now comes the fun, the checkout cart clearly indicates my $20 bundle discount would continue months 1-21, my confirmation email only indicates $5 discount.... |

so i pulled the trigger over the phone and was able to get the ultimate package with 150/65 down to 165 for a year. the modem was a $100 since i dont do contracts but they spread it out over a 3 month payment so I'd say thats a great deal. im paying now for everything they have to offer what my mother in law was paying for the most basic of comcast |

Ah your in Virginia. Was that tier available bundled in the NY/NJ/VA area before Today? I'm in Cali so I am pretty happy. Are you saying you ended up paying more for less or you didn't have it bundled or it dropped your price? |

Simple, for anything over 100mbs , you have to use Ethernet and not coax/MOCA. Verizon also will install a Gigabit WAN/LAN router |

I'm thinking about doing the same thing as you, dropping down to Extreme and going up to 75/35 with my triple play which keeps my price the same. So I expect billing issues again.
Just make sure you print that out the on screen price and discounts. That's what happened to me earlier this year when I got an extremely low price. They kept saying there was no way I could get that. But luckily I had printed out the price and discounts. And it only took them three billing cycles to get everything right. Plus I got some extra discounts on top because of the annoyance of having to deal with them.
Three months was certainly better than a couple of years ago when it took them six months to get my billing straightened out.

I just called them. They said a tech needs to come out to install the new router. I told them I already had the rev I router. She checked and said it looks like all I need is a Central Office change which they can do tomorrow, instead of next week. I said "Great!!!"
I think my delay could have been avoided if I had used a CSR in the 1st place. In the future, I think I will always place orders via a CSR instead of online. My 5+ year experience with Verizon has been very good. I've only had a problem with them once and that was again when I placed an order online.
Not sure about the Ethernet vs. coax/MOCA thing but I hope she was aware of that and/or I already have what's needed.
Also, I tried to get some free HBO or something, since I signed a new contract. No dice. |

kudos:1 | With Coax, your limited to the max data rates of MOCA. Since its typically 220mbs, you may actually get your 165mbs with the new I Actiontec, all other versions were limited by the LAN of 100mbs.

I ordered the upgrade from 35/35 to 150/65 yesterday, this morning my speedtest from »speedtest.verizon.com/fios300/
And I am using my 3years old Netgear WNDR3700 V1 router. And UPS is out for delivery for the new router from Verizon. So all they did is remotely and from CO. My ONT is 2years old and good to go for the QUANTUM SPEED.

Not true - MoCA WAN is still the 1.0 spec, and you can't get any throughput higher than 90Mb or so. It has nothing to do with the BHR. Any FiOS speeds higher than 100M need to be ENET, even once the ONT's support MoCA 1.1. |

I did the order from my iPad and did a screenshot of each of the pages, months prices, etc. so I will have documentation to go with any problems.
The one thing I would miss from Ultimate was Showtime (love Shameless) so this morning I added it at half price for a year. Still paying about the same as before because I had previously added the Starz/Encore pack at half price, which got dropped when moving from Ultimate to Extreme. |

I needed a home or service visit. The tier requires three things and you need to have all three to get the maximum speeds:
1. GPON ONT (mine was BPON)
2. Ethernet to your Router (mine had been converted to COAX)
3. A Rev G or I router.
Now my order was completed the very next morning, but you know probably just depends on how many service calls/techs they have in your area. |

MoCA WAN cannot do anything over 100Mb, so it doesn't matter what the BHR spec sheet says. I am sure its just like 802.11g which was '54 megabits' and it would sync at that data rate but actual throughput was 20 megabits (if you were lucky) and maybe 25 megabits best case.

My question is
MoCA 1.0 offers greater than 100 Mpbs MAC rates and 270 Mbps PHY rate
MoCA 1.1 is an extension to MoCA 1.0 and offers 175 Mpbs MAC rates (PHY rate remains the same)
With typical speeds of 220mbs physical , with MOCA 1.1 you would have real world rates of ~140 mbs , this jives with what people see with the MOCA 1.0 routers that cap out ~80 mbs
I understand why you use GigE, to to say the new router won't do more than 100mbs is my mystery I was hoping Dave would elaborate on. |
