Re: Post your Sprint 3g speeds

said by Max Signal:

It is not a constitutional right to have high speed internet. You cannot expect any corporation or even government agency to invest millions of dollars to provide you with high speed internet unless it is financially feasible for them .

You are quite tiresome with your raving.

I live in more or less suburbia...it once was rural. I have dozens of homes with Comcast Cable connections One Quarter of a mile east as well as west of my house. I offered to Comcast $2500 to run a cable to my location.
They said no.

Is this your personnal space....do you have the power on this board to censor or dictate what is posted?

I know you use this board to drum up business for your company.

I've spent money with you....buying antennas and amps...which did work great for a while.....but the problem is Sprint.

Don't you get a lot of customers because of poor Sprint service?

I am raving ??? You constantly post your miserable speeds and once in a while good ones . I am just stating that facts as they are presented . We feel your pain . It sucks . What more can be said . But you keep posting as if it is Millenicom's fault in the forum dedicated to them . Post your disdain for Sprint in the Sprint Forum . Millenicom can only voice your concerns to Sprint . Millenicom just resells Sprint service they are not a cellular provider. They have no control over where Sprint chooses to spend their money on their network .

And no I do not want to people to have crappy service to sell my goods . Yes I have a business but I do not wish for other misfortune to help my business. It sucks that Comcast does not extend their service to your location . But I guess it does not seems feasible to them business wise or perhaps there is some other legit reason it cannot be done .

Keep posting your lousy speeds , Does not bother me . Perhaps there are other alternatives you have not pursued or maybe there are not. But as Jim stated constantly posting your bad speeds are not going to get anyone at Sprints attention . I doubt they come to these boards. Perhaps you need to find a source at Sprint that will help you with your plight.

·HughesNet Satell..

Wow I have been gone for awhile. Thought I would add my two cents. I truly feel your pain cbobby. And there is really not much you can do about it. The only things you can do would be to get the data profile updated and hope it moves to a better tower. If not then get a custom home agent and maybe it will work better. I know how you feel as in my area every town around me has cable and dsl and it was as if they thought hmm should we go around this small town or go straight through it and save money in the long run? No.... lets go around it and make more money instantly. If you would like help getting better speeds cbobby I would be glad to help. As millenicom can only provide you support up to a certain extent. I am a computer technician and I know that an internet connection can only be as good as the computer is functioning. One thing that may be holding it back would be the configuration for the tcp ip settings they are usually a good start as by default windows xp isn't that great for getting good speeds for internet for its default settings. Anyways let me know and I will be back on here to respond or just pm me. Ohh by the way:

What a jolt of speed to bad it never stays stable at that here is a stable screenshot:

It just doesn't seem to be to stable at all. I keep getting fluctuations for some odd reason. But I guess 130Kbps is not too bad considering there is no other options instead of satellite.

Thanks for you response. But until Sprint upgrades more towers in my area, adding more capacity and backhaul, to service the number of SmartPhone devices they sell into the market, there won't be increase in my speed.

I've had this Millen Sprint service since 2008. When I first got it all I needed was a small flat panel ant pointed out the window at the tower. I was getting 1 to 1.5M down and .40K up.

As more and more smartphones came on the market the speeds and the signal strength deteriorated. I added (from Max Signal) and Amp and an ant that came as a package. This put things back to usable speeds. I was able to watch stuff on Hulu again.

Time went buy and the service got worse again. I bought a splitter and hooked up the Flat Panel to the Omni Ant....as per the specs (again Max Signal) for the Amp. Things got better for about 6 months.

Now you can see from my posts where I am. The signal is strong the speed is not most of the time. On weekends early and late at night I can get 1M and higher download and .80 up.

The problem is not in my set-up. I have spent several hundred dollars "enhancing" it. The problem is that Sprint does not have the infastructure to provide an acceptable level of service for the number of devices they sell into the market.

Plus I believe they are putting all their efforts into rolling out LTE 4G.
Here too (I just read a piece in the NYTimes today) they have been selling LTE Smart Phones in markets where they haven't even set up a LTE service.

I guess any decision made by a business must be right and legit. Even if it means "redlining" a number of potential customers by refusing to sell a service to them.

I'll continue to post speeds. There is another thread for VZ LTE that posts nothing but great speeds. Jack used to have thread for Sprint 3G speeds....and most of them were great too....but then there were more and more slow speeds posted. I'm just keeping up the tradition....though I've not seen anybody posting fast speeds on this thread.

"A custom HA"? That will do nothing for your speed performance. Your speed is determined by your equipment and the Sprint tower you are accessing. If your tower is loaded then your speeds will be lower.

Most of us on Sprint just use 255.255.255.255 as our HA and let the system choose it when we connect.

Right now my HA is in Belleville, MO and as an example I'm using Comcast in Richmond Va for my speedtest. It doesn't matter where it is.

Thoughts about speed issues and overcrowded towers.

In this mornings Wash Post if a full page color ad for Smartphones by provider AT&T. I know this has nothing to do with Millen., but I'm sure the other 2 providers- Verizon and Sprint - run ads of similar intent. This one is "priceless".

The ad speaks to the promise of wireless tech.

The ad shows a generic smartphone with a large screen filling the entire front surface.. On the screen is a picture of a cute blond girl less than 2years old, laughing. The header reads "fotovidstream.com" now streaming "Lil' Princess". It is pretty obvious that this is a "home movie" shot and uploaded to the site for friends and family to view.

Play bar at the bottom of the screen reads:

HD... 5 mins 5 seconds have elapsed of the 2 hour 6 minute 41 second video.

...to switch my adapter to home network instead of public. So I did so and it seems that my speeds went back up. They were extremely slow for no reason then I switched it to home and they went back to normal ...

If you are using a router that should be OK but be warned if you are using the USB device direct in your machine you are placing your computer on sprints network doing that!

The setting is for the built in firewall in windows 7... home should be used on a LAN you trust, public should be used on a LAN (or WAN) you don't trust.

I am not saying sprint will do anything to you, but other nefarious people on their system might! Just a heads up.

Perhaps you can grab another software firewall for protection while you have it configured like this (or even disable the win7 firewall when you use another and see if it works normally).

Some good free firewalls:

Online Armor
Comodo Personal Firewall
ZoneAlarm

Once again if your are using a router already you should be ok as the router will have fire-walling of its own happening.
