[Mobile] Dell Laptop w/ATT mobile broadband card

I recently inherited a Dell Latitude laptop which has some kind of ATT broadband card installed internally. I'm assuming the card works as there is a "Dell Mobile Broadband Card Utility" icon on the taskbar, and when opened, it shows the ATT logo, and "SIM not found" and shows a good signal strength.. I'm gonna assume since this is ATT, its talking about a GSM SIM. Having this, I'd love to activate it, IF (BIG IF HERE) ATT has a similar Prepaid mobile broadband setup as t-mobile does.. If the answer is no, and a contract is required, that's a deal-breaker and the card comes out/goes on eBay.. I don't do phone/broadband contracts. Period.. All my cellphones (wifes and mine) are VirginMobile.

Going on the assumption that it's an E series Latitude, the SIM slot is hidden by the battery. I can't vouch for whether or not a prepaid plan will work, but those laptops definitely use a SIM card for AT&T WWAN access.
