[IA] Dubuque/Galena gets digital switch over in August
After talking about for at least a year now in the Dubuque market area, an article in the Telegraph Herald newspaper this morning implies that the digital switchover will finally come this August. On August 14, supposedly "10 popular Family Cable channels convert to digital-only reception." On August 21, the remainder of the channels in the Family package (channels 23 through 78) will convert. And finally, on August 28 supposedly, the Family package will gain 49 HD signals.
The same article also says that by the end of August, Mediacom will offer a total of 101 HD channels. Obviously many of those (about half) must be in the various premium packages beyond the Family cable.
Good news! It is an important part of the evolution of cable.
I am in Mobile, AL, and the switch is going on right now. I just noticed, on the TVs in my bedrooms (no boxes) that the analog channels are gone. They have QAM tuners, so I am good, just having to rescan, a few HDs are saying no signal. They have given so much warning that no one should be without knowledge of this.
