Re: New Tiers - The Real Speeds - Check before you updgrade

Both of you need to find a better server, 19ms is killing the upload numbers

150/65

Sadly, it looks like most of the speedtest sites cant handle the upload speeds. Almost every one gets over 150 down but this is the only one to break 50 up.

EDIT: Here is the one from Verizon's speedtest site.

I'll post this again.

The Ookla client that speedtest.net uses cannot handle the high upload speeds on FiOS. Verizon is using a newer Ookla client that can correctly measure the high uploads on the new Quantum tiers. Ookla knows they need to get this newer client out to the speedtest.net hosting providers.....

I don't get whats with all the advertized/actual's for.

Not everyone sees those numbers even when bundled.

Just like two posts above me, I get those exact same speeds 24/7. Never 75up like 2-3other people are seeing. Still no response as too why only a few are seeing a higher number.

What do you mean by "fluff"?

fluff is a term used for provisioned bandwidth greater than the listed data rates for the tier.

For example, on the 50/25 , we are actually getting 58/38 , the extra speed is provisioned to allow VOD to not impact internet speed.

Very interesting and educational, when I had 50/20 I wasn't in a bundle, I had all three services but because the speed wasn't offered in a package I didn't have the Triple Play, I wasn't bundle so the speed never reached 50Mbps, it always was 48. Now since the new Triple Play , until I get the 150/65 everything is 78Mbps. Thanks a lot for the information.

I have always had "fluff'' even after the Frontier takeover on 15/5 internet only plan.

15/5 Speed Test

Decided to try for a while the 15/5 tier and save 10 bucks a month, its speed tests out at 25/5 with Video fluff.

Why Speedtest never hits the 35Mbps mark?

Strange why the Speed test servers peaked over 90Mbps.

These are the speeds I'm getting from Speedtest.net. Although this was the best download. Usually it's around 155Mb/s and the highest upload I've seen is around 59Mb/s

On the Verizon Speed test I'll get just slightly under 70Mb/s(like 69.9x)

I'm signed up for 25/25 and getting 30/30 with an Ethernet connection and 20/18 wirelessly. I'm happy...

Wonder why they upped the download from 20 to 25.

I would say because they want the customers to think they are getting more bang for their buck

....or 70/32 when wired.

I guess my old Actiontec MI424WR Rev C with it's 802.11g doesnt cut it. Pity Verizon didnt mention that when I ordered the upgrade.

Get your router replaced. That might fix the issue

dcexile

@verizon.net

Tried to get them to replace the router, but they wont. So time to cancel the "upgrade".
