Re: New Tiers - The Real Speeds - Check before you updgrade

These are the speeds I'm getting from Speedtest.net. Although this was the best download. Usually it's around 155Mb/s and the highest upload I've seen is around 59Mb/s

On the Verizon Speed test I'll get just slightly under 70Mb/s(like 69.9x)

I'm signed up for 25/25 and getting 30/30 with an Ethernet connection and 20/18 wirelessly. I'm happy...

Decided to try for a while the 15/5 tier and save 10 bucks a month, its speed tests out at 25/5 with Video fluff.

Wonder why they upped the download from 20 to 25.

I would say because they want the customers to think they are getting more bang for their buck

I upgraded to 75/35 and I'm getting 19/21.

dcexile

@verizon.net

....or 70/32 when wired.

I guess my old Actiontec MI424WR Rev C with it's 802.11g doesnt cut it. Pity Verizon didnt mention that when I ordered the upgrade.

Get your router replaced. That might fix the issue

dcexile

@verizon.net

Tried to get them to replace the router, but they wont. So time to cancel the "upgrade".

You have a few options

1. Get the upgrade and tell them that your actiontec isn't working right. They will send you a replacement router. No promises that it will be a RevI. You might get a RevF

2. Have a tech come out and chances are they will give you a replacement RevI router

A couple of you in this thread have mentioned that you have 150/65 without TV service. May I ask how much you're paying? Thanks!

Been on 25/25 Triple Play since switching from TWC this March with a bit of extra fluff, paying $107 mo. including taxes/fees for with "free" MR-DVR for life + free SD-STB, and 2 extra HD-STB, nothing extra - haven't seen the $2 extra per STB adjusted yet - a substantial saving of $55/mo. over TWC with only 2 HD-STB and no DVR at all.

Been hit with numerous emails to upgrade to 50/50 - getting consistently 31/25 now - started out at 31/20's or so before I optimized the cat5/coaxial setup - with Rev.I AT router.

Speed is addicting & tempting, to pull the extra 25+ upstream since we get 15+ devices (4STB + pc's/tablets/phones, etc.) but it will cost $15 extra when I priced it out vs. current discounts, and it will only be good for next 18 months (on 24 mo. contract) - I think we will pass and see what's being offered as we get closer to renewal time - who knows, maybe - bump to a higher speed & locked in another 24 month contract.

Speedtest dot net results showing a bit faster: 33/26 vs. VZ's own testing as below:

SendBufferSize set to [522720]
running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 25.69Mb/s
running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 30.22Mb/s

------ Client System Details ------
OS data: Name = Windows 7, Architecture = x86, Version = 6.1
Java data: Vendor = Sun Microsystems Inc., Version = 1.6.0_33

------ Web100 Detailed Analysis ------
Client Receive Window detected at 66560 bytes.
2.4 Gbps OC-48 link found.
Link set to Full Duplex mode
No network congestion discovered.
Good network cable(s) found

Web100 reports the Round trip time = 14.34 msec; the Packet size = 1452 Bytes; and
No packet loss - but packets arrived out-of-order 0.1% of the time
This connection is receiver limited 11.20% of the time.
Increasing the the client's receive buffer (65.0 KB) will improve performance

Do you have TV service too? I get around those speeds as well. But I thought with Tv service it was supposed to be a little faster.

Although I'm really only concerned with faster upload speeds.

I have all services so yes, TV, Inter and Phone now on DV...I was previously on the 50/20 plan. They first replaced the 610+ with a 612 bpon and today finally with a gpon from Alcatel/Lucent not sure of the model # id have to crack it open to see (its exterior model)

Hey Jackarino

Thanks for the pics my friend. The NJ plans usually stay pretty close to the NY plans. Now I wonder will the price will drop if you have all 3 services included but thats a question for another day. Thanks Again

Triple Play Bundles

Double Play Internet

These are the rates for my area (Carlisle, PA 17015).

Whats weird is that if I go internet-only in one spot on the Verizon site, it only offers me 75/35, but if I go to the upgrade center, I get offered 150/65... weird stuff... They need to upgrade me to GPON anyways to go to 150/65.

EDIT:

Also, speed tests on my 50/25 + TV double play:

We just upgraded to the 50/25, which was an additional $10/mo. We're Getting almost 60/40 AND received a $270 gift card, which pays for the extra $10/mo for the entire 2 years and THEN some!

Man, I just renewed and all I got was a $120 gift card. Who do you know at Verizon?

Nobody sadly, wish I did to get some sort of discount considering we pay almost $200/mo . $135 for tv, internet and phone, and almost $50/mo for two HD DVRs and one HD box.

Our contract ran out like a month and a half before quantum, so we renewed our contract with the old speeds & got the $270 GC from that, once we got the GC we than re-renewed to get quantum. Someone here suggested it and it worked!
