**RESOLVED** Blu-ray's won't play or are recognizedI have a LG GH24LS70 installed in my computer and I can't watch Blu-ray movies with it. I have the latest firmware for it but apparently I'm still missing something.
Any suggestions? It seems that I am mistaken and that this product never supported Blu-ray in the first place. |

VLC Media Player. DVD's work just fine. Blu-ray's won't even show up. |

It appears that Bluray is not really supported by VLC player. Currrent releases (2.0.0 or 2.0.1) are somewhat experimental with bluray. |

Windows Media Player doesn't work either. Any other suggestions? |

You will need a third party software program that supports bluray playback. You will most likely not find a free version.
This is because bluray video is a patented technology so any company that produces either a bluray player or software to play the discs will have had to purchase a license to do so from the patent holder.
Third party software may come in the form of codecs that windows media player can use to decode the disc or it could come as a complete fully functional player type application.
It seems that POWERDVD has support for bluray. Perhaps WINDVD does also. |

The page that I originally linked to is incorrect. I found the correct technical specification page on the LG website along with websites from other sources that say the same thing. Best Buy product page. PC Rush product page. |
