[Cable] Extremely Slow Connection - Power Cycle Doesn't Help

Cable connection has been crap - VOIP is unusable for two days now. Wife yelling to get it fixed. Asking why we dropped the landline. Have posted in the direct forum two days ago and still no response from teksavvy.

Power cycle the modem and it is fine for a short while and then crap again. WTF!!

Pings are horrible 26 to 122 ms. Speeds are crap. VOIP broken up and unusable.

After a power cycle just now with normal looking stats:

Channel Frequency Power SNR BER Modulation
1 639.0 MHz -1.6 dBmV 38.6 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM
2 591.0 MHz -2.5 dBmV 38.5 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM
3 597.0 MHz -1.8 dBmV 38.6 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM
4 603.0 MHz -1.9 dBmV 38.2 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM
5 609.0 MHz -2.3 dBmV 38.2 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM
6 615.0 MHz -1.9 dBmV 38.6 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM
7 621.0 MHz -1.7 dBmV 39.0 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM
8 633.0 MHz -0.9 dBmV 38.6 dB 0.000 % 256 QAM

Channel ID Frequency Power Modulation
8 38.6 MHz 42.5 dBmV 16 QAM
3 31.3 MHz 42.5 dBmV 16 QAM
4 25.3 MHz 42.5 dBmV 16 QAM
7 22.1 MHz 42.5 dBmV 16 QAM

Nothing but crap speeds.

Re: [Cable] Extremely Slow Connection - Reboot modem ok then deg

At least you're one of the few getting adequate signal strength. At some point in time a class action lawsuit must be launched against Rogers because of low signal strength. This problem doesn't exist in the rest of the world only on Roger's network.

Unusable this morning. Have power cycled the modem 4 times since last night. Get the occasional burst of speed but then the speedtests drop off into oblivion.

Ping tests are horrible.

Re: [Cable] Extremely Slow Connection - Power Cycle Doesn't Help

Update - called Teksavvy Support on cellphone as VOIP not usable and still no response in direct forum.

They recommended a factory reset which seems to have done the trick on the modem. Did not even notice the hole for the reset before (dooh) but seems to have resolved the issue.

Hope it lasts.

Bottom line- in addition to power cycling, don't forget to try a factory reset with the paper clip in the hole of the reset button.
