Well I don't know about that, I have a D-Link Wireless N gaming router that when it came out didn't even fully support wireless N, now it may be my neighborhood, but I have it on 5GHZ with 40MHZ and get about 280Mbps throughput on it to my HTPC sitting in the living room, the only reason I know this is because I ripped Season 1 of the Big Bang Theory to my hard drive and pushed all 10GB's of it over at once in less than 5 minutes.... Buuuuuuuuut then again you kind of already covered this, and so I'm just talking for nothing, but have faith in the 5GHZ spectrum unless everything surrounding you uses it!

40Mhz mode on 5Ghz would be the most likely way to get close to that sustained speed over wireless. However the only guarantee would be to upgrade router (or add AP) and adapters to the new 802.11ac draft, but you might sacrafice reliability because it's still in draft status.

If setup properly and a decent AP you should certainly be able to max out a 75Mb/s connection. Does anybody know how to configure both ATs so they are cooperative and non-conflicting? Thank you all.

There is a wide variations in actual performance between different manufactures "N" products, in your case stay with something that's proven, the TEW-637AP is very widely used and has been reported as a top performer

I know wifi can be affected by several factors, so I wasn't expecting the max, but I can't get anything more than 38-39 Mbps. I was online with Verizon tech support yesterday for a long time, including being transferred to a supervisor. They tried several things on their end, but they couldn't improve my download speeds.

Meanwhile...all my devices are equipped for wireless N, so I wanted to know the best way to get it. Should I upgrade to the Fios N router, which I apparently can only order online? I checked with a couple of Verizon stores near me and they both told me the physical stores don't carry the N router.

Or should I buy a 3rd party wireless N router and bridge it to my current router? Is that more or less effective than upgrading my Fios router, or is it equal? And what is the best way to set up the two routers to work properly? I'm familiar with adjusting router settings onscreen, so I am not concerned with trying ;)
