Re: Will this effect Sonic's loop access?

Thanks for clarification Dane.

However your last posting about wholesale/resale AT&T DSL not being regulated and possibly going away brings up another question, if I may?

Does Sonic have their own DSLAMS, or simply resell AT&T DSL?
(My understanding is we are not talking about Sonic Fusion now)

My understanding was under the the breakup of Ma Bell, CLECs offering DSL would have access to in-ground copper at the same loop cost as the Regional Bell carrier.

So this has now changed and customers of Sonic DSL service are at the mercy of AT&T allowing loop access?

Sonic.net offers two xDSLxx products:

AT&T line-shared ADSL1, up to 6Mbps, requires an AT&T voice line, and uses AT&T DSLAMs. This is an unregulated product, and wholesale availability to ISPs is by commercial agreement.

Fusion, which is ADSL2+ today, up to 20Mbps (40Mbps with bonding), this is a regulated CLEC product delivered over a regulated UNE-L, using our own DSLAM/MSAP/Voice equipment which is colocated in each central office where we offer service.
