Anyway, let's assume its a green drive with raw read/write speeds of about 100-110MB/sec (the WD Caviar Green 2T disk comes in at that.)

Add 50% overhead for encryption, and hey, presto - you are right in the ballpark for your measured performance. If you want to get better speeds, you'll need to drop the encryption.

Recap:
FW800 limits you to 80MB/sec read/write (less overhead, but let's forget that for now)
WD Green 2TB drive itself limits raw speed to 100-110MB/sec r/w

So, fastest you could go is 80MB/sec, FW is the limit.

On top of that, encryption sucks up to 50% of your write speed, less for read, and... um... you get what you're seeing.

Looks plausible to me.
