[IA] Mediacom not installed due to no cable

I called into Mediacom to order service, was suppose to be installed today! The tech comes out and says well the cable is up the road and no plans to expand it! They expanded it yesterday big trucks out and pulling cable along the road and putting taps in. When I called in she said "well its serviceable lets place the order for the internet 50/5". So I said lets do it! Wednesday rolls along (Today) And they will not budge to install it. I signed a contract for a year to keep the service and I have recording from a rep at mediacom saying "we'll run the cable to your house on Wednesday"

Help!
Nicholas

Re: [IA] Mediacom lied!

Your frustration is completely understandable. I am going to escalate this up to the local management and construction team to get more information.

Contract or not, verbal or otherwise you will not get service if your address is not serviceable. It's simple, if there is no plant near by there is nothing an installer can do to get your service up and running.

I just got word back from the local construction group. We do not have active cable to your street yet. We are in the process of building cable about 7 blocks away but unfortunately we do not have an ETA for when it will be available to your area.

mediacom should service him even if it costs them billions. a company can hold a customer to a contract, even if a customer moves out of a service area, but a company doesnt have to honor the same contract? got to love the united corporations of america...

@mchsi.com

the install was never completed, so the contract is void

Well he can get an estimate and pay the bill in full and he can get service. No company will spend 10s of thousands of dollars to get $100/mo from one customer.

BTW when you are not serviceable don't even bother waiting. It could be years before you can get service.

PS Several years ago I had an install and after determining the building had no cable prewire whatsoever the job was cancelled. Just because someone said you can get service it does not mean you can. We all make mistakes.
