[GOLF] Spectators barred from PGA Tourney storm damage

1st time I have ever seen this. The Tiger Woods sponsored PGA tourney at Congressional Country Club has barred attendance by all regular spectators today due to storm damage and fear that spectators could be injured by falling tree limbs. Watching on TV it looks strange seeing the players walking around only followed by officials, scorers, reporters, and family members.

The storm last night in DC area resulted in widespread power outages that will last for days and left the golf course without normal electrical power(TV trailers running on generators), and many damaged trees.

There are 2 million Pepco customers without power now, and it'll take up to 5 days to get it all restored. Meanwhile there's a chance of storms like that again each evening for the next few days.

The storm that caused millions of dollars in damage on the East Coast on Friday had its own story with a happy ending.

For the past two weeks, the tournament operations manager has lived out of a temporary trailer behind the fifth tee. He moved out of those makeshift quarters on Friday evening to spend the night with his family. During the stormy night, a large tree fell and crushed that trailer, flattening it like a pancake.

Call it good luck, good fortune, or a nice coincidence. But a possible tragedy was avoided.

Tiger wins his 3rd tournament of the year. Appears that he is rounding back in to his usual form. But until he wins another major, doubts will be voiced.

Tiger passes Nicklaus for most PGA Tour wins:
