using an Ethernet connection i have the TV and internet package i know that you need to use coaxial from ont to the router for TV,is there anyway i can use the RJ45 connection on the ONT to the router and still keep the coaxial for the TV.
After you have verizon swap over your internet to ethernet, you just swap the WAN connection in your router settings from Coax to Ethernet. Your router will still serve the LAN Coax for the STBs and the ONT will still serve the broadcast signal for them.
Thanks for the info, for verizon to switch does it involve a visit from tech or they just do it on there end.
Verizon can do it by phone...just call their tech support. It will take them a few minutes to make the change. I stood in front of my ONT and watched the change happen, while they had me on hold.
Depending on the representative that answers your call, be prepared to explain why you're doing it. Feel free to be creative.

There is a FAQ (»Verizon Online FiOS FAQ »Coax or cat5 install?) that will answer many of your questions.
There is also a Direct Forum where you can post your Coax to Ethernet Conversion Request.
