I used to spot a few hacked modems every so often on random node audits from scout (ran a batch) and I would report them to engineering who usually didn't give a crap. Usually, I would only see the careless people who never changed the firmware from "madcatz" or whatever still as the default.
Firmware updates were usually when most of them would be found especially if u sent a restart to it and still wouldn't update.
