 | [Northeast] Service down - 2+ days until service call Woke up today to no service. ONT has blinking FAIL light and red video light. Reset the ONT but does not fix it.
I called CS and waited 30 minutes for rep. They need to send tech but earliest is Tuesday July 3 any time from 8 - 8.
Well, I work from home and have kids home from school. No TV, Internet and Phone. This is just ridiculous!!!!
Any thoughts? (I'm on my iPhone) |

 | reply to mamisano We lost services two weeks ago and I called at 3.30p. 1p the next day the tech came and confirmed the fiber was dark, then put in a call for a bucket truck. They came at 6p, found the problem on another street and we had the service back at 6.30p. My own take is that this is more representative of Fios service..perhaps as others suggest it is a local staffing or regional weather related issue. |

1 edit | reply to mamisano I called back shortly after seeing PoloDude's reply. A different Rep contacted the Dispatcher and got me scheduled for Monday.
Around 1:00 PM, a tech called me because he was done with his Sunday work and started on Monday tickets. He was here within the hour.
The problem? Termites ate through my Fiber run at the pole. The drop was fine but the feed was toast. About 45 minutes later all was fixed.
I am just glad I did not have to make plans to find somewhere to work for the day. |

 | I guess termites need fiber in their diet, too! |

| reply to mamisano Just be thankful for fairly quick Fios repair response, given the situation in the MD/DC/VA or Mid-Atlantic region trying to recover from last week's violent storms. Folks are without basic electricity and for those with health issues, this is life n death - and I'm sure, for mutual aid purposes, they are redirecting field crews from surrounding region to go in to assist in the recovery.
I would be a "bit" worried, however, about termite problems at places near the pole, i.e. the house/property that OP is situated on, time to call in for an inspection to uncover other hidden damages to mitigate before it escalate upward to more serious problems for the structures. |

 | reply to mamisano Usually it's ants- where ever there is bare fiber (splice enclosure, hub or distribution terminal) the by products of their nesting/activities actually corrodes the fiber. |
