a century link representative just informed me because I disconnected my service I will be charged a $15.18 order disconnect fee. Interesting since my usual bill is $25.58 and the charge for the days used this month is $10.40 and add the strange charge of $15.18 for the disconnect the total comes to $25.58 so that means they are charging me for the entire month. If I had used 28 days would my disconnect fee be $2.20 the remainder of my bill for the month. I have been a customer for years and I am so disappointed in being charged to disconnect. I am headed to Missouri and they have century link there and I will not be using their service as a result of this. I had no problems before this and they have now lost a good customer. It seems they are burning their bridges with so many and it will hurt them in years to come.
Check the front of your telephone directory and see if there is a telephone number for the state public service or utility commission. Call them and ask if the disconnect fee was approved by the PUC and if Centurylink can charge for same. Most PUC's require the Teleco to prorate the monthly fee based on the number of days of active service.
Thank you so much Mr. Matt, I called the PUC and registered a complaint, they are going to investigate this and call me with the results. I appreciate your help, I did not think about calling them until I received your suggestion. Thanks again! Clg
