Re: So Long.... Happy trails, sir.
I don't think I'm going to follow you my own experiences with Comcast having been less than thrilling, even with my frustrations with VZ.
That having been said, it's hard to blame anyone for reaching this conclusion and moving. -- I do local news. My top site: www.unionvilletimes.com |

I see others constantly whining about History 2 HD etc which makes me wonder if people are really serious or not...most of these sub HD channels either show the same content as the main HD channel (just in different time slots) or have very little HD content to begin with...for me BBC America and Cartoon Network are the only really important channels I feel FiOS is missing
either way it's good to see you actually change to something that will make you happy versus constantly whining about TWC, Comcast etc adding new HD channels to their lineup...I've said it countless times that they are mostly adding filler channels to artificially inflate their total HD numbers most of us that "whine and bitch" in here are very serious. that's why i spend most of my time surfing in the SD section. there a re quite a few STARZ and other channels simply NOT available in HD, these are the same channels usually showing a good movie that gloriously has never been seen by me, how sad is it to surf for non REPEATED crap ?
even the 3rd tier sub-human crappy channels with their inbred shows are now re-running shows that cost next to nothing to produce WTF ? I can see miltimillion dollar movies , but these hillbillies cutting down trees or driving trucks in Alaska or that "turtle man" "live action" that crap is beeing re-run are they serious??????
it's a crappy game verizon chooses to play with us in attempting to wrangle a few dollars more out of us OR because they choose the wrong hardware and now are stuck with X amounts of HD.
I have until next June for my 2 year contract to end(even though the bitch I spoke to at the time told me it was a ONE year as I had asked for) |

 | reply to JeepMatt I hope to god I don't have to switch (or add) Time Warner. I love Fios, but TWC Sports has acquired rights to all Lakers games. So far, I haven't heard that VZ and TWC have come to a carriage agreement (actually, they haven't stated any other carriers picking up the channel). There is only 3 months until the channel (and the season) starts.
Does anyone know if you can run both a cable co and VZ Fios tv to the same house at the same time? |

I ran FIOS and Comcast side by side for several months on the same TV when FIOS first became available to evaluate both services.
FIOS won!!
I wonder if I did the same thing today if I would come to the same conclusion. Probably yes. |

Your contributions to this forum will be sorely missed, but you had to to what you had to do. I hope you're happy with your decision. |

 | reply to bushleaguer said by bushleaguer:Agreed....I keep getting Comcast flyers in the mail and see their triple play price but going by past experiences with them I toss it in the recycling. I do the very same thing here. Flyers removed from mailbox and tossed into the recycling bin. I've had horrible experiences with Comcast in the past. Since Fios became available in my area, I've never looked back. |

 | reply to JeepMatt Lurked here forever and agree with you except on the point of Customer/Technical Service. Comcast truly has NONE in my area. They are incapable of controlling the equipment in my area WITHOUT a TECH visit. I find that unexceptionable, but it does seem to be only my area this happens in. Other Comcast customers don't seem to have this problem. My area can't even go to the closest Comcast CS station for equipment swaps or new orders, I have to drive to the one 45 minutes from my house opposed to the one 5 minutes from my work. Isn't it ALL supposed to be the SAME Comcast??
Verizon customer service doesn't seem much better than Comcast from a person stand point, but in the 3 years of having it, I haven't needed to call them, unlike the 3 or 4 times a year I had to call Comcast and take a day off from work and wait for my 4 hour window. I even got 2 - 7232 from the Delaware store and dodged the upgrade fee, VZ didn't even screw up my bill for that matter.
That being said doesn't Comcast still have data caps? For all the extra speed they promise, what's the point if you can't exceed xxx gigabytes per month? For my Dr. Who fill on BBC AMERICA I just torrent my stuff in HD, and watch it the next day, looks great and it's popular enough that the torrent is done in 20 minutes or less--or it's FREE . Plus I noticed that mild editing is done with the AMERICA broadcast so the pure feed is better IMO.
Agreed that both services have there ups and downs, I'll tell you who has my loyalty if this ever happens. How about a flyer in your bill that ASKS US what channels we want and let the paying customer vote for it. Where do either of these companies get their statistics that determine what we want, because they are wrong in their selections. If 10,000 people want the travel channel and 90,000 people want the NFL channel and space is an issue, it doesn't take rocket science to figure out what channel to offer. Crap--lets vote on do we even need east and west coast feeds of the same channel, majority rules. I'm not saying get rid of all the HBO's channels for example keep HBO family, but with on-demand do we really need east and west coast feeds anymore?
Just my 2 cents... |
