n19htmare5 posted : So I called cox a few times.

The end result is basically, tough luck, suck it up.

They can send a tech down but only during working hours, when there is no congestion on the node. If the speed result is with-in their acceptable range, I will be charged an $85 fee.

They state my modem is set up correctly on their end.

I might as well downgrade my damn service, agh. I'm so disgusted.

n19htmare5 posted : I forgot to mention this is not a new issue. I've been at this residence 10 years. The last few years it has gotten progressively worse.

I'll call up cox and see if my modem is configured correctly as I'm only seeing two channels on the downlink.

Still sucks that between 6-12 (when my family is home) we are unable to stream anything without buffering constantly).

And weekends, the service sucks pretty much at all hours.

daveinpoway posted : I see that you have only 2 downstream bonded channels; some other Cox areas have more (I have 8 here). Things will probably improve for you if/when more downstream channels are added in your area. How long will this take? I don't work for Cox, so I have no idea.

Another possibility is that your area does have more than 2 downstream channels but, for some reason, your modem isn't detecting the other ones. If this is the case, a tech visit would be useful.

n19htmare5 posted : I'm in Southern California (Chula Vista).

I have the premier packager internet which I believe is advertised at 25MB.

Well, During the day it's somewhat reaching that. but at night 6PM to about 12AM daily it CRAWLS. I'm talking down to 1-3MB. That's a HUGE drop in service IMO.

I call Cox and they make me run through resets everytime and then they want to send a tech. Which BTW comes during NON peak hours. I'd like them to send a tech at 9pm.... but obviously, they won't.

I also mention to them about node congestion but the techs on phone act like I'm speaking Greek.

Is there ANYTHING I can do on my end to gain some sort of speed boost?

Modem is a Cisco DPC3010

Thanks

Model:	Cisco DPC3010
Vendor:	Cisco
Hardware Revision:	1.0
MAC Address:
Bootloader Revision:	2.3.0_R1
Current Software Revision:	DPC3010-v302r12901-110516a-COX
Firmware Name:	dpc3010-v302r12901-110516a-COX.bin
Firmware Build Time:	May 16 2011 17:09:15
Cable Modem Status:	Operational

Downstream Channels
Power Level:	Signal to Noise Ratio:
Channel 1: -1.0 dBmV	39.3 dB
Channel 2: -1.3 dBmV	38.3 dB
Channel 3: 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB
Channel 4: 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB
Channel 5: 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB
Channel 6: 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB
Channel 7: 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB
Channel 8: 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB

Upstream Channels
Power Level:
Channel 1:	41.5 dBmV
Channel 2: 0.0 dBmV
Channel 3: 0.0 dBmV
Channel 4: 0.0 dBmV
