We are moving to an area that is not served by ATT dsl, but want to keep our sbcglobal.net email address. How do we do this?

Long-running thread in AT&T West:

»Keep sbcglobal.net or att.net email address after DSL cancel

Maybe somebody needs to add information to the AT&T FAQ.

The way I did it was to go through each sub-account and log in. Alas, I did not keep notes through the process. But all of my 'pacbell.net' accounts were converted to free Yahoo! Web Mail accounts.

AT&T maintains the following legacy domains:

• ameritech.net
• bellsouth.net
• flash.net
• nvbell.net
• pacbell.net
• prodigy.net
• sbcglobal.net
• snet.net
• swbell.net
• wans.net

All are eligible for conversion to free Yahoo! Web Mail accounts as long as your AT&T account is paid up when you quit; plus, I expect, no ToS issues pending.

You will likely have to renew your agreement with the Yahoo! AUP/ToS.

Incidentally, the current 'att.net' domain is not only eligible for the conversion to the free Yahoo! Web Mail service, but anybody not a part of the AT&T service, such as Charter or Comcast users, can sign up free accounts in the 'att.net' domain as well.

Email address can be kept permanently! (Spoke with ATT) You lose your front page, but all email content is retained. Log in through www.att.yahoo.com

If you want to skip the portal page, 'mail.yahoo.com' also works.
