I have FiOS where I currently live, but next month we're moving to a house in Medford, MA that currently doesn't have FiOS available. In searching around I discovered that roughly 71% of Medford has FiOS available, and the agreement that the town apparently signed with Medford allowed for further negotiation towards wiring the rest of the town. But since those announcements I've been unable to find anything else about any continuing rollout. Does anybody have any idea how I can find out if the rest of the town will ever get wired?
If VZ is not already contractually obligated to wire the rest of the town, it is unlikely to happen. VZ has stopped it's FIOS rollout except in areas where it is already committed. -- There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't.
It all depends on the LFA - Local Franchise Authority. Most of the LFA agreements allow a specific timeline to build out an area. Many of these agreements stipulate at least 2-3 years to fully wire an LFA.
Check with the LFA in Medford to see what the current agreement states.
