Actually installed pressed (mdf) beadboard on the ceiling of my 1st floor bathroom, sealed it with 2 coats of kilz oil, havent had any discoloration in 3yrs now.
-j -- if it aint broke, tweak it!! currently on FiOS (kick aZZ!) |

It's wood fiber combined with synthetic resins and a rot inhibitor. MDF I don't think was ever designed to be used outside...this product is. It's not the same as composite decking, but kind of in the same boat. No one would ever have suggested composite decking a 1 1/2 decades ago, and now look at where we are.
I would want to know how it would be used in the greenhouse, to know what the alternative building materials would be. |

| said by cdru:I would want to know how it would be used in the greenhouse, to know what the alternative building materials would be. This is an 8 x 16 attached greenhouse. The North wall (stud wall) abuts the house. The South, East and West walls are about 4 ft high (from the floor) concrete frost walls insulated with 2" foam glued directly to the wall. The East and West walls are underground. The West concrete wall is above ground and has an entrance door. The floor is small (1") stone to a depth of 4 feet. It will be used for thermal storage to augment 6 55 gal water drums.
Glazing is 5mm polycarbonate 2-wall panels routed into pressure treated framing members.
Inside wall covering will terminate a couple of inches above the rock floor so there is no direct contact with the stone.
Goal is to cover the walls with something that will resist occasional wetting while watering plants. Not doing anything exotic like using a mister to increase humidity.
This material says it is suitable for outdoor signs which is a much more demanding use then inside our greenhouse.
