Audio dropouts?

All of a sudden, on our HD channels in the past like 3 days, we get audio dropouts....

But, as I watched more closely, it appears that as we were watching the NBC HD channel that comes from Detroit, when they were expecting a storm, they periodically add a BEEP BEEP BEEP to the audio as they start a crawl across the screen with storm updates.

At exactly the same time - we did NOT hear the BEEPs, but the audio drops out of the real NBC news show....all between 6:30 and 7:00 pm EDT....

Anyone else note this too? Oh, and how to avoid same would be a nice thing to add here....at least if you'd know?

So it isn't me than. I have been having the same thing happen to me also. But on the SD feed of CityTV, the worst has been on the western feed (king 5, q13 fox) those are so bad the video feed freezes up also.
Tried watching America's Got Talent on CityTV (which I missed over half of) and then I watched it again on the Washington state feeds. NBC but 3 hours later and the program kept blocking and freezing and the audio kept dropping out.

I have been noticing tons of audio drop outs on 47-SPACE yesterday from 4pm-12am. It was so bad I was thinking of turning it off. First I thought it was the programing but the advertising was just as bad.
Now last night I notice Spike was doing it also.
What the heck is going on?

I wonder if any Cogeco techs have seen this topic yet.

Oh....and nothing helps more than trying to watch an Olympic event and having the sound drop out time and time again, eh...

...sigh...what the heck could be causing this AND how can I get it to stop....

And that is why I gave up with cable. Just for the Olympics I'd setup my outside antenna because it is more reliable than Cogeco Cable (even on stormy days).

i setup an antenna to and the HD is way clearer then GOUGECO.

Yeah, Cogeco's HD feed looks like crap compared to antenna. Sure I would expect some quality loss with all the compression but that is just crazy. I also had a small taste of Shaw Direct's HD feed and I was really impressed with the picture quality.

Is it me or does Cogeco's SD feed starting to look real bad? I find that with the SD channels are starting to look very blurry. Heck even standard DVD quality looks far more better than the SD channels, well maybe if the movie had an extremely low video bit-rate but still.

I'm having audio drop outs as well.
I can't say I mind during the Olympics because the commentators are so brutal. Don't get me started...
During movies I do mind and I had to turn one off completely earlier this week it got so bad I'd just missed too much.

Shaw Direct has better PQ than Cogeco. So does OTA. I was surprised when I saw how good OTA PQ is. As for Shaw Direct the sound quality is also better.

I'm not having dropouts as much as generally low volume. I know the TV volume is fine because it's normal with Blu-Ray, Wii, etc. But I have to crank the volume to hear the cable sound properly. I've monkeyed around with the volume settings on the box, but to no avail. I've got them set so that it's as loud as it will go, but still not good at all.

Menu button x2 -> Setup -> Audio Setup

Audio Output -> Advanced
Compression -> Heavy

That's what I've got, and it's still very quiet.

I got a problem with the audio feed again. I want to watch the Olympics but the friggen audio keeps dropping out every 8 seconds . I know it is an Cogeco problem because this problem has now been around for over an month and it never seems to go away.

It is happening on an handful of stations and it is so annoying that its making everyone real pissed off at the cable service.
