I have no Internet even though the modem light is on. Internet went off my Mac at time of Chicago storm about two hours ago. I do not have any problem with TV or phone.

Called RCN, they said no problems on their end.

Now it' working fine. I recycled modem and replaced the ethernet cable. I don' know if that's what did the trick or something else got working in the interim.

My RCN rep said that several other people in my area were reporting problems and that there was also a zone deemed dead nearby. But that they couldn't ping my modem but my connection should be fine. Ill try again tomorrow :|

also a good connection and an unping-able modem, isn't that contradictory?

There is a major ingress problem off your node that started on the second. I'm not sure where it is the market's work queue to get addressed but I did send a note over to them to see if we could bump it up a little faster.

My connection still hiccups and has gone down and up throughout the day. On the plus side, i get a service call wed...... that's the only plus side rly.... How to check node statuses?

The Tech just came today and thought the problem would be the line so he replaced an old looking line that the installation tech originally put in and bent, tearing some of the shielding. He then proceeded to watch me play SC2 cuz I suggested that'd be the best way to see my issue. and my issue still exists.... so he said he'd call another tech to look at the line at the pole.....

still can't use my internet for everything just web browsing and 5minute videos.

Shot a note back over to the head of Operations for Chi this morning. Asking for details on getting this resolved. sorry!

Don't know if it was you or the tech from the 11th, but my internet is working without hiccups now. Thanks a bunch! Also, the tech that came out the 14th said that after someone comes by, it takes up to 48 hours for any fixes to take effect. Is that true?

at any rate, thank you and now that my line is working just fine, I get to keep rcn and keep my line monitor up!

Glad that things are better.. as for the 48 hours that's subjective. It's the equivalent of when you call in for a trouble-call and they can't have someone there right that second. The CST's that goto houses have to refer it to the plant guys to go take a look. And then for them it becomes a matter of priority where does a certain problem fall inline with others.

But Glad things are happy.
