alkizmo join:2007-06-25 Pierrefonds, QC kudos:1 | True story - Paveway sealing hottie So just 30 minutes ago some 18 year old short-shorts tank top blondie girl came to my door offering to reseal my paveway for 120$.
Now aside from my hesitation on whether this 120lbs girl could do it by herself (So she claimed), she said that her company's sealant is oil based while here all you can buy in store is acrylic based.
I had the true and perfect excuse that one of the cars in my driveway couldn't be moved any time soon (On the bricks) for her job, so I dismissed her.
However I wondered, what if she was really using oil based sealant and it was true you couldn't buy it locally?
Would it be banned because the oil might contaminate my soil? |

alkizmo join:2007-06-25 Pierrefonds, QC kudos:1 | reply to alkizmo Oh cmon guys I couldn't have taken a picture of her as she talked to me, nor do I have a camera at my entrance (But for SECURITY reasons, I MUST DO SO ASAP! I told her to come back later this summer).
Trust me, I had to orient the conversation several times to make sure SHE, the little 120lbs 18 year old blond girl in denim short shorts with perky breasts, would do my paveway.
I almost regretted my car couldn't be moved out of the way, just so I could see her in action.
Now guys, back on TOPIC....
oil based sealant.... why she has it and I don't? |

She said her company was moving to Ottawa tomorrow morning and this evening was last call and she got the "Green light" for offering the job for 120$ instead of 240$.
I did pay a drive-by lawn aerator guy. Though it was only 15$ and he DID aerate my lawn.
This one though... 120$ for a job that relies a lot on the material being used. A bit like Bazilian linked, it's not about the job, it's about the show... but she wasn't in a bikini and I have enough in my fill of you know what what.
but cmon back on topic I can imagine that oil/tar based sealants would be better, but what's the risk and can it be bought somehow? Side comment: She had a stupid pitch about oil vs acrylic. She said "Acrylic and water don't mix"....... ya and oil does? |

| When it comes down to it, sealing an asphalt driveway is a complete waste of time and materials. It's for aesthetics only. It does not extend the life of the driveway or "protect" it. It's basically a paint job. -- ...because I care. |

and.....
A shot of Pramitol 25E will burn down the weeds as well as provide residual which will remain effective for up to a year on bare ground and much longer when protected. It works through foliage and root contact. Once covered with tar, stuff won't grow back for a good long time. Do not get it on any plant you don't want dead. I know for sure it can be had in Manitoba but not sure about all Provinces. -- Zach |

 | reply to alkizmo alkizmo, my neighbor across the street bit when they came, looked like 4 ex cons in a truck that had civilian plates no F plate (F plates are commercial in quebec) it was done in 20 minutes.
When they rand my doorbell i asked about GST and PST numbers and RBQ registration, the guy then said "oh we arent doing your street this week, sorry for distrubing you" |

Unfortunately, MnDOT fell for it last year. They called it a "flash coat" and I'm still trying to get the shit off my trucks. She was talking about 1 year warranty and 3 years guarantee (What?! guarantee exceeding the warranty AND being so long?!).
What saved me really is being an avid DIY guy. I didn't want to pay someone to do something I wanted to learn to do for myself, let alone let some barely legal tight-butt girl do it for me.
She'd make much more money scamming people into donating for Jump Rope For Heart (If she actually did jump rope). |

 | lawn mowing is no biggie its usually a neighborhood kid trying to make a little money, but the thing that scares me about the driveway sealant thing is you never know whats in there. Heck they could be cutting the sealant with old motor oil for all you know, |
