My speedtests vary wildly. Just now on myspeed.visualware.com I ran the test 2 times back to back. The first time I got 43/36. The second time I got 1.46/36.6

The Verizon speedtest usually gives me the full download speed, but an upload of 12 or so. Just now it gave me 43.155/16.351. Then 42.665/12.733.

The FIOS 300 one gave me just now 43.13/38.11 and then 43.15/38.06.

The speedtest.net ones crap out on me halfway through most of the time.

Yeah like mine something is messed up with that because on my optimum line on the same computer I always get accurate results and it sustains it doesn't jump all over the place.

I have a bad feeling that the jumping is whats causing me to not be able to play flash or movies on the computer because fios is not being able to provide a constant stream of data because on my optimum connection the same videos play fine and start fast.

Yup - I haven't been on my computer too much of last week, and the only reason I noticed an issue was because HBOGO on my 360 started crapping out and buffering constantly when I was trying to watch crappy tv shows with my gf. Then I hopped on my computer and realized websites were taking forever to load or just not responding at times.

I read/replied to you other thread........I too am having similar issues.....

Initial speed test (at Speedtest.net) "Spikes" at 44 Down but over the course of the test, it falls to 4 down........Upload not that bad......

The Speedtest at verizon shows me with a full provision of speed....makes me believe that the results that they give are the Maximum speed throughout the course of the test.

Again, Verizon is sending out a Network Engineer to come by on Monday.

Yes it sounds Like you are having the problem me and SL83 are having.. I also have a tech coming tuesday however I as well feel there is some funny business going on with the verizon speed test and think like you it is pulling the fastest result only the problem with that is I was told by the fiber solutions center that the verizon techs only care about the verizon speed test.. I have a feeling a fight is coming and I hope that is not the case. I wonder if NYCDave could help and look into the network side of verizon because if more peope are experiencing this I doubt it is a hardware issue on are end.

Agreed.......on my initial service call to the FSC, the CSR said that they only recommend their speedtest site.......after telling them that I tried other sites (speakeasy, testmy.net, speakeasy, ect...) she said that if the Verizon site says that my speed is correct, it is correct!!!!

Called back and got another CSR.......he took time tor "remote" into my computer, saw what I was getting and then recommended a visit!

Belive me fighting verizon isn't easy I was a customer since the Dlink and Nim days... I had many service problems after they switched me over to DHCP they were so hard to deal with and finally I made some progress ot much only after talking to Tim Troutman.

The Reason I left verizon was because of slow speeds but that was a year and a half ago I thought by now they would have this fixed. Whats really shocking is that cablevision is providing better internet services then them especially since they started bonding channels. Verizon though has them beat on the TV Guide front.. Io guide is very dated but that may be changing according to a high up in september.

I called and opened up a ticket as well. I referenced DSLReports.com and you two also experiencing issues.

In my experience, online chat support usually is quicker and easier, but all I got was a bunch of rebooting my equipment and disconnecting me every time without so much as a warning.

The 1st call got disconnected also without warning so I decided to call from my cell this time. :lol:

whats worrying me is convincing verizon that there is a problem. SL83 I hope you have luck as I said before I have a Tech coming 11am-2pm on Tuesday we will see were that gets me. I don't want to have to keep optimum active and pay for two bills. I wanted to cancel optimum after having fios installed but after having service problems like this I don't want to because I can't even watch videos online like youtube or ign or any other one without buffering problems.

Yeah, that is the problem.

I certainly understand that in most cases - the problem lies with the user's computer or router or some other stupid user related error and that's what the support tiers are geared towards.

It just makes it very difficult to get a problem resolved when that is not the issue.

Hopefully NYCDave will be around to save the day

Yeah I don't want the tech that's coming on Tuesday to mess around with my whole house since this problem has nothing to do with me. I have tried every thing the tech will probably do replace the tips of the coax, replace the router, change the splitter, leave the router on only default settings don't change anything and the problem still happens. The only thing I can't do is change the Fiber Wire coming into my house, change the ont, or check the connection coming from the CO to my house. I hope that this tech doesn't make me move my boxes or reruns wire again.. this problem has nothing to do with my house. If he wants to replace the ont or brush the tip of the fiber wire that doesn't bother me since that takes place outside =)

Can you post a few traceroutes and ping results just for comparison as well? I imagine the better documented, the easier it will be to show there is a problem.

I, for the life of me, cannot believe that WE are the only ones with these issues.......I wonder who else is having related problems.......

I also wonder if Verizon is aware of this problem.......Time will tell!

Just a quick off-topic question do either of you guys have fios TV and if you do can you resume playback of VOD content I see the option to resume but when I press that it only restarts the program. I'm asking you guys because you live on long island like me and we seem to be having the same problems.

Not really a TV guy but I do have the triple Play.........Went into the VOD menu and tried it. It resumes for me.
