| trouble adding Esata purchased approved 1tb WD drive and no matter what I did the STB wouldnt see it - rebooted dozens of times - did the stb fixes and the in home agent - NOTHING helped
I finally hooked the drive to my PC using USB to see if the drive was dead and it wasnt - the next time I plugged in the drive to the STB it was recognized
Not CERTAIN if there is a cause and effect relationship BUT it may help someone else ... |

I also had issues when installing my Western Digital DVR extender. Rebooted the box at least 10 times, the DVR never would recognize the drive. My problem was due to a bad eSata cable that came with the extender from Western Digital. The cable worked fine with a PC, but not good enough for the extender. When I tried another eSata cable from work, everything started working properly and I got a message to format my drive. |

I had a similar problem with my 1TB WD-AV extender only it didn't have a USB port only esata. I tried a dozen or more times to get my 7232 to recognize it with no luck. I even tried different cables. I was going to RMA the next day but before I packed it up I gave it one more shot and it worked. No idea what the issue was. |

drive is now not being seen by DVR and unfortunately Im on vacation
i bought it to record Olympics while I was gone
ill try a new cable |

New cable may have been the right choice
BUT now that the DVR shows both drives neither the IPAD app nor the FIOS website reflect the correct amount of space remaining
the esata drive doesnt show up on either when looking at drive space remaining |

I sent the drive back to amazon
the replacement drive is MUCH better
sucks that I cant see the FEW olympics that were recorded on it |
