I totally agree with you. It is brain washing technique that sucks in the people.

yep, not even family is immune. It sucked in my sister about 2 years ago, and again 3 weeks ago. Basically she is getting a bill for just stupidity from me. It's the 3rd time in 2 years I have had to clean a pc of hers and well you are going to pay me this time!

You could install K9 »www1.k9webprotection.com/ on her computer or create limited user account if you have not done it already.

So, are these running during infomercial time slots? On broadcast channels or cable ones?

I've mostly seen the "MyCleanPC"; and seen it in prime time programming. Odd, because I don't really watch a lot of TV.

I could but it's her laptop, and her choice. Me I just make sure my imaging software is up to date. Cause last thing I am going to do is waste time re-installing software.

These crap ads are rampant on SiriusXM too. Log Me In, PC optimization ads, etc. Must be cheap to advertise on there cause I hear the most BS ads.

Then there's "LogMein", which I assume to be some sort of dish made with Chinese noodles and wood.

LogMeIn is a legit remote log in software for people that dont want or dont know how to set up a secure remote log in for there home / work PC
they own Hamachi now too

Yes, I know. I was just making fun of their stupid name. People ought to take more care about smushing words together without punctuation.

I use the hamachi service for the machines I maintain.

If I were going to expose this scam [and it is a scam], I'd post here:
»Scam and Phishbusters

Good luck. I'll be watching. If I get some free time on vacation, I might lend a hand.

What channels are these aired on? I have over the air (OTA) antenna. Maybe that's why? Or maybe I don't watch commercials. Hahah!

But but "the virus is GONE!"

I wince when I see those ads.

PS: Gotta love the daughter's "Dad's let's go to the store and buy a new PC...". Sorta like buying a new car when the ashtray is full

Here is that ad. He may signup the whole family for this entertainment as well

It seems that every one of those ads claims to "make the Internet faster". That claim, alone, is probably actionable.

Perhaps...but if the thing fubars enough computers with the subsequent drop in those able to actually get on the Internet; then by default, the Internet will become faster due to lower bandwidth utilization

See? there is a silver lining

scammers?

I listen to SiriusXM all day and have never heard a Log Me In commercial. What stations do you listen to? I would be curious to hear one. I have been a logmein free/pro since they were 3am and Hamachi since before they bought them. I was supporting about 250 machines that would pop up in temp locations for a week or two at a time.

We are mixing two different products in this thread. Go To My PC and Log Me In are NOT the same thing as my clean PC or PCMatic. While I am not a huge fan of GoToMyPC, they are basically remote control software no different than PCAnywhere or VNC. I actually started using netmeeting to remote into the windows machines, across a hamachi network.

The MyCleanPC and PCMatic software is a scam, no different than Video Professor. You remember, Dr. Phil before Oprah. I had a neighbor get scammed into the "one free disk" deal when she signed up for people PC internet. it was sad really, I am used to people who want to take short cuts, but she wasn't one of them. She was just someone who was scammed.

To me Go To My PC, Log Me and PCAnywhere are all bloatware apps unlike TeamViewer, and other freeware apps.
