Actually, Havens (who recently had to discontinue live performances due to health issues) recorded and released his cover version of the song in 1970, a year after George wrote it and the Beatles released it on Abbey Road.

Yup, that's a Beatles tune, although I do like the Richie Havens version too!

There's his version he sang at Woodstock floating 'round YouTube as well! Check it out.

EDIT: Correction. He did With a Little Help from My Friends, and Strawberry Fields Forever.

I guess you are right on that one! I just figured he did it back when I was listening to him in the 60's.
