Re: Redirected to ATT Bad Password page.

said by JackRazz :

Could it be that the redirection is triggered because the pppoe session was not properly terminated by the modem and ATT servers are viewing this as a duplicate login?

I believe that this is what's going on

I eventually get logged back in, but I don't know what I'm doing that makes it successful

The pppoe session times out because echo requests go unacknowledged

hey wayjac,
Thanks for the info. Its been raining in Houston and the power went out again this morning for at least an hour. When power came back on, the router connected successfully without a hitch.

I called AT&T yesterday. Their suggestion was to buy a new gateway modem. I'm not thrilled about replacing a good working modem, especially if I'm not sure that will do the trick. But I do want to get rid of the problem.

Hey wayjac,
Thanks for the help. The part number for the SpeedStream 5100 is 060-E141-A01. I checked my records and I got the router around 2003 - 2004.

It looks like I'm wrong about being a pure analog modem. There is a MAC address on the back also. I check the MAC addresses under my router server's devices and it isn't there.
