| [HD] STB Rental Fee Question Hi guys,
We just renewed our FiOS triple play for another two years. We were on the Prime TV plan with the digital voice and 15/5 internet. For the renewal, we decided to keep the TV and voice plans, but upgrade the internet to 50/25. I noticed afterward that we will still be charged $9.99 /mo. for the 1 HD STB we have (Motorola QIP7100-P2). I think it's kinda lame how they hide this charge on the "Services you currently have" page and show it after you renew. We've had this STB for 2 years now, shouldn't it be paid for soon!? Does Verizon keep charging for STB rentals when you renew the contract? How much are these STBs even worth? That seems kind of ridiculous.
I also heard on here that people received notices that the price is increasing to $11.99? I don't believe we have received that notice yet...
Thanks, Derek |

Thanks, Derek BTW if Verizon starts charging $11.99 for a non-dvd HD stb its robbery. Those boxes cost around $150 and normally in business you itemize costs over 3 years thus it should be around $5 month (which is $180 but covers loss).
The FCC needs to step in if they raise those rates that high. |

The FCC needs to step in if they raise those rates that high. Verizon isn't looking to amortize costs, they are looking for all the profit centers (VOD, PPV, STBs, etc.) they can add to the mix. If they were just looking to amortize their costs they would sell the boxes at a minimal profit and then only warrant them for 90 days to a year. -- REMEMBER: Stupidity should be painful !! |
