Re: Cisco DPC 3825 router fails after last nights update

All I can say is boo on Cisco and Suddenlink. A DOCSIS 3.0 compliant modem should just work without a bunch of 'updates" from the ISP.

It didn't require an update, it required (a second) activation after ISP maintenance.

But modem/router combos often are junk. Sounds like this is one.

Yea! Just like Windows OS should just work without a bunch of updates.

Technology changes...software changes...bugs are found...updates are needed.

Really, and that's why almost all business class Cisco routers all run IOS 12.4 (circa 2001-2004) instead of IOS 15.1 (circa now)?

That would also have to take into account financials for upgrade fees and then man power and actual know how to upgrade it and operate it. There is a lot of IT out that that I wouldn't even want working at GeekSquad.

Back to OP, I would suggest looking for a modem and router separately. Better performance and easier to troubleshoot with.
