I have fixed a few 4100 just by replacing any bulging capacitors. I was able to find the caps to replace cheap on amazon.

Another thing to check would be the power supply.

Have you tried a reset on the original 4100 modem since the purchase-return of the 4100 replacement? I'm curious as to whether that might fix a temporary condition or if there was a permanent failure in your original 4100 modem?

Things are pointing towards the modem. I saw the power light turn red one time like it was rebooting and the internet light will start flashing green and I have to restart it to get it working again. I have another 4100 coming next week and I will change it out and if that doesn't fix it, HELLO TIME WARNER!

Upload speed problems are rare and tough to diagnose. Have you tried a gateway test to see if there is a latency problem?: »SBC DSL FAQ »How do I do a gateway ping test?.

Perhaps you should run a Line Quality Test too?

Any thing else? I spent 3 hrs on the phone on 7/4 to no avail,they sent a truck today and ATT guy checked my line, said there was nothing wrong with it, the guy acted like I was wasting his time. I had to ask him to check it at the box on the house and he did and said "nothing wrong". He took the drop wires loose and checked them back to att. Said must be somthing inside or computer. I have 2 computers doing the same thing! When I got home yesterday the internet light was blinking green on the modem and I had to reboot it. There is a reset button on the modem,what does that do?
