NHHD99 posted : After deciding not to wait for the new X1 platform to be released, I picked up a Tivo XL-4 on Sunday and a cablecard on Monday. Set everything up Monday night and all went smooth. It took the Tivo about 1.5 hrs to update everything via the internet. Called the dedicated Comcast Cablecard activation line and after being on hole for about 10 minutes everything went well. It ended up taking about the whole 1.5 hrs for the Cablecard to start showing channels but it seems to be working well too. The Xfinity onDemand Icon did not appear at first but after doing a forced connection fto the Tivo servers to update again and leaving it for the night, it was available and working this morning. Picture quality looks better than the older Comcast Motorola box and the on screen guide is MUCH better, showing lots more info and for about 2 weeks into the future. So far, so good!

Now I'm really scratching my head. Back to VOD, I pull the coax and it stops. It needs both connections to run. I am betting the stream itself is over the coax, since that's how their boxes do it. I'm not running any local router meter SW else I'd check that to see if the traffic is there.

joetaxpayer posted : Yes, 4 shows at once. In fact, the natural state of the TiVo is for "suggestions" to be turned on. So a few days in, I had 80 shows in that folder. I realized it 'cause all 4 record lights were on when I knew I only had one recording. It was working on suggestions. Simple menu choice, turned it off.

And the XL4 has VOD rolling out. That also works well after Comcast properly pairs the cable card.

NHHD99 posted : Does anyone have the TiVo Premiere XL4 with the Comcast cablecard? It seems pretty pricey but their new guide might be worth the money. Comcast doesn't seem to be in a hurry for any existing customers to get their new X1 platform, which supposedly is available in Greater Boston but yet no one seems to have it yet. If you have the TiVo Premiere XL4 with Comcast cablecard, can you confirm that you can record 4 shows at once?
