 | Here is what happened last time... Time Warner got competition in some areas of KC several years back with Everest (purchased by SureWest). They lowered prices for people that could get Everest and raised it in all other local areas they served to make up for that lost revenue. I won't be surprised to see the same thing happen this time around, as there are many Kansas suburbs and areas that won't be served by Google. |

| TWC is still trying to win me back after moving to Surewest. I will never go back, the local peering with Surewest in KC is something I can't give up. I don't care how much cheaper they are. I might not even move to Google Fibre if they don't peer local. -- My Internetz: Surewest 50/5, CenturyLink 10/896, AT&T U-verse 18/1.5, Sprint 4G Hotspot Computer: i7 2600k@4.5GHz, GA-P67a-UD7-B3, 16GB DDR3, GTX 580 and GTX 260, Corsair 750W, Antec 1200 |

| I am curious as to what it is about local peering that is interests you. From the research I did it seems to be about agreements between or among ISPs. Unless you are an ISP, I do not see any issues for a retail customer to concern themselves with. What am I missing in my research that explains your view of this issue better? |

Well you might be moving if you want Google Fiber since it will not be coming to Johnson county. |

| reply to davidhoffman The lower latency ~7ms to any datacenter in KC, and knowing that all your traffic is not even leaving the area when you go to these places. Also it means lower latency over all. I get on avg. 30ms lower latency with Surewest than I did with TWC as they route all traffic to Chicago before being handed off.
