Verizon has done it finally. . .
MISSOULA- Verizon Wireless says its bringing a major upgrade to three of its Montana markets in the next few weeks, expanding to its faster 4G LTE network.
The upgrade will be expanded to Missoula, Kalispell and Bozeman.
The 4G LTE, or Long Term Evolution network, promises faster and more robust connections for mobile devices such as smart phones, tablets and air cards that are equipped to handle the newer technology.
The system is already in use overseas and in much of the U.S. and is known for delivering faster, more robust bandwidth which helps with accessing the Internet, watching videos, streaming music and using apps that access larger amounts of data.
The coverage in Missoula will include the University of Montana campus, along I-90 east to exit 107 and west to the Wye, and to the southern reaches of Brooks Street.
The Kalispell 4G LTE signal will cover downtown and north on U.S. Highway 93 North to Whitefish and south on U.S. Highway 93 to Lower Valley Road. The signal will also cover U.S. 2 Highway north to the intersection with SR 40 outside of Columbia Falls.
The service will cover the MSU campus in Bozeman, along I-90 to exit 313 and west to exit 298. Coverage will also extend west of Highway 191 to the intersection with Jackrabbit Lane west of Belgrade, including the Bozeman Mall. Livingston will also have 4G LTE service.
The new network isn't just useful for smart phones and tablets either. Other accessories such as the popular FitBit Wireless Trainer take advantage of the faster connection speeds.
